Poor Speeds and outages.Poor tech supportI was a customer for over 3 years. I just bore up to them cos I did not want all the hassles of switching providers as long as I had internet for my portable devices and phone gateway. But for streaming and watching itv the speeds were negligent and viewing was impossible. But on the positive note my cancellation was very smooth and I was even refunded payment for the remaining 10 days.Reply from: Diane July 9, 2021 Their policy states if customer has good pay history for 2 yrs, the customer can request the deposit to be refunded. After 3 yrs of service, I requested my $50 deposit. Ineeded to email them multiple times with screenshots of their policy before they refunded it. 2 days after the refund, Cannet emailed and texted me threatening me disconnection if i didn't pay an imaginary $50 invoice that I had never seen before. All my monthly payments were paid on time because Cannet was authorized to charge my credit card every month and I have ALL my monthly statements for the last 3 yrs. I messaged them to enquire how I owe $50 extra since my regular payment is $45.18($39.99+ tx) but they refuse to reply. They have charged ny credit card on July 2 2021 for the current month so im wondering if they just want to disconnect me expecting I will pay to be reconnected? Very frustrating when Cannet refuses to reply and I'm hard of hearing so I avoid phone calls which I have informed them many times |

Be CarefullIt is ok for low trafic internet.Do not tr it for streaming tv, it does not work in the evening. Also multiple disconnects of 30 seconds or more, especially in the evening and weekend. Technical support is useless. Your decision Reply from: ron December 6, 2020 I too have had many issues getting their poor connection issues straightened out. I have been constantly on the phone with their so called technical support people and promised each time that the service will be corrected. To date I have probably gone through 10 conversations and multiple emails only to have the same issues still present. They refuse to send a new modem after I have done every change, modification, reset, cable changing, software update, etc. I have the 75/10 plan and it does actually test that speed most of the time, but I have had disconnect, delays, slow speed after 6pm and multiple loss of service even on a |Sunday morning. Will be looking for new service provider. |

Disconnecting for more than 30 secondsI am a new subscriber for 75 Mbps (.since Aug 17, 2020)At the beginning it looked ok. In the last two weeks not only that the download seed drops, but it actually disconnects for 30 seconds or more, especially in the evening between 7 and 10pm. It is hard to use it like this, so the "savings" are useless. This has to be fixed or I will have to move out. Please be aware that you are taking risks. Regards Ion Reply from: Ion Manea September 30, 2020 No technical support. Please be aware be0fore subscribing Reply from: Ion Manea September 21, 2020 Actually they are charging 39.99 for 75 Mbps and 9.95 shipping and 50$ "deposit", so the features on this website need to be updated according with the current CanNet fee structure. |

CanNet Telecom, also known as cannettel, is a small Canadian ISP HQ in North York, Ontario. In spite of a rather short history, established in 2009 only, CanNet Telecom has become a top choice for many looking to escape the big telecom giants.
As an ISP CanNet does focus only on providing cable broadband internet access. Cannet is available in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, and Ontario. It shall be mentioned, CanNet had been deemed to be one of the largest independent internet service providers in Canada. CanNet call themselves as the largest third-party provider for the main Cable operators in the country (Rogers, Bell, Cogeco, Videotron, and Shaw)
Let us shift attention now to review CanNet internet plans. We found there are currently 3 Cable internet plans. We'll detail them below.
- Cable 75: Down 75 Mbps / Up 10 Mbps @ $29.98 / month
- Cable 150: Down 150 Mbps / Up 15 Mbps @ $59.98 / month
- Cable 300: Down 300 Mbps / Up 20 Mbps @ $59.98 / month
- Cable 500: Down 500 Mbps / Up 20 Mbps @ $64.98 / month
In GoneVoIP CanNet Telecom residential Internet Review we find the plans to be in the right price point, for the most part, with good speeds choices at various levels, and since all plans come with unlimited usage that makes the CanNet Residential Internet plans even better.
Having said that let us continue with CanNet Internet plans reviews, now let's review the additional fees. First the good news, there is no shipping for any of the plans. That is great! Though Gonevoip found there is a rather disproportionate Activation Fee, also called Processing Fee, of $59.95 for each of the cable internet plans. Though the strangeness with fees does not stop just with the setup fee. We found that all plans include afee of $9.95, in terms of shipping and handling. The modem is a free or zero dollar rental. It is odd the discount is presented that way, that leads us to believe at some point the modem rental and discount will not be canceling each other.
The final note of consideration is that CanNet Telecom Home internet regardless of the plan you chose does not require a contract nor time commitment.
In all, in the GoneVoIP CanNet Home Internet review, we find many positive aspects and see great potential. The speed, usage and monthly rate CanNet offer on the internet plans are mostly right. Though the lowlight is the Activation Fee; definitively needs to be lowered. In a similar fashion could introduce support for BYOD to support other/more modems. While CanNet may be a good Cable Internet alternative, why not also offer DSL or Fiber to residential homes? Currently Fiber is limited to some Condo buildings. With speeds of 500 Mbps Download and 100 Mbps upload at $49,98. While this giving choice to a part of the population it would be great to have more flexibility and more choices to all residential market.
