The cost distance of international calling

      Rating  0     Rating  0

The diversity found in Canada is an amazing wonder to see as there are people from around the entire globe. Many of these people leave their loved ones behind to come and enjoy a prosperous life in Canada. However, when it comes to remaining in touch, they also have many options – some better than others. Telecommunications is a gift of technology to this world that has made many lives easier, and brought people closer. However as the years passed and competition began settling in, some did better than others, and vice versa. Traditional phone lines and VoIP connections are now the law of the land and between these two is a conflict that has been going on for decades. Who provides better service, at better costs? Who offers economic security whilst providing quality customer care? Today’s question, however, will be who offers the best option for long-distance calling?

The Traditional Landline

Within Canada, the traditional phone line companies such as Rogers, Bell, and Telus have enjoyed a stifling grip on the customer population. They have evolved into giants over the course of their existence, and now provide telecommunications service to a very large portion of Canada’s population. However, that does not mean that these companies are the best, or even better than others. With VoIP connections come many great options for long-distance calling, and crystal clear quality. VoIP technology has revolutionized the world and has been implemented as the go-to service for many people. Home phone traditional lines are slowly but surely becoming a thing of the past and it is high time that people realize that their money is better spent on providers who offer prices that show care.

The VoIP difference

The difference between costing is staggering as well – to give you a small example, take the international calling rate of Rogers for Pakistan, which is 75 cents per minute for both landlines and mobile phones, and compare that to Localphone – which is a long-distance service provider that only charges 2.8 cents per minute for mobile phones and home phones. That is a difference between the prices that one just can’t ignore, and there is no plausible way for Rogers to justify this. Later on, we will compare other countries in the same manner but it’s time for me to get some things off my chest!

A very peculiar aspect to notice about traditional phone line pricing is that they are not only charging for long-distance within North America (Canada and the States), but they base it on distance in miles. So for example, if you are living in Toronto and want to place an international call to Texas using Bell, you would pay a staggering 91 cents per minute for your call. Customers dealing with VoIP providers usually don’t have to deal with such issues considering many of them include unlimited North America dialing in their plans, for example – Phone Power, VoIPMuch, and 1-VoIP. Using Rebtel’s long-distance service, a user can dial America for only 19 cents per minute, and if the user chooses to opt into their Max Saver plan for the United States they can avail of 1,000 minutes for only $6.35, which is $0.006 cents per minute!

The Telecom Standoff

This has always remained a stagnant issue in the world of telecommunications where organizations who have a solidified footing on the market base price their services to a point where it no longer seems feasible. However, due to their undeniable popularity – customers remain with their services through thick and thin regardless of whether or not there are better options available. Better options such as Rebtel long distance aren’t hard to apply for – it’s only a matter of what the customer feels is right for him or her.

In terms of savings that you can acquire calling long-distance through VoIP providers in comparison to traditional phone lines, you’re looking at almost 200 percent! With the excessive amount of charges on long-distance calling for anywhere across the globe – traditional phone lines are either knowingly implementing these prices without a single care, or they believe that money is truly worth the price. While the VoIP long-distance providers are offering a price that is not only economically more accommodating but also makes the provider a profit as well.

Traditional Telco vs VoIP Providers

As someone who requires long-distance services, it is best for you to research into which companies provide the best rates for you, and we have eliminated that need for you by doing just that. Hands down, VoIP providers offer long-distance rates that are economically more feasible across the globe.

For example, if you were placing a long-distance call within Canada using Rebtel you would be charged a maximum of 19 cents per minute, while with a home phone Rogers line, you would have to pay 55 cents per minute. Even within the borders of Canada, there doesn’t seem to be a standardized price between traditional home phone lines and VoIP services. Additionally, if you wanted to dial China using Rebtel, the maximum charge you have to face is less than one cent per minute at $0.009! However, using Rogers you’d have to pay 20 cents per minute – which equates to a difference of over 2,000 percent.

Conclusion

All in all, it really does boil down to what the customer really desires – there is no denying that loyalty comes in many forms, and it just may be those specific customers who choose to remain loyal to traditional home phone lines. However, it is the job of the provider to treat this loyalty with the utmost respect and provide their clientele with rates and services that just can’t be beaten. Sadly however that is not the case, VoIP lines take an easy victory over traditional home phone lines in terms of pricing as well as a cent per minute to ratio.

Home phone lines would in some cases need to drop their rates by 2,000 percent to be able to complete with some of the rates the VoIP services are implementing. We implore you to take a look at another informative piece about the clash between home phone lines and VoIP providers.
