Voyageur Internet is an Internet service provider that serves the Southern Manitoba area. The company’s headquarters are located in Winnipeg. Voyageur Internet was founded in 2002 under the name NetSet Solutions, before changing their name to Rainy Day Internet in 2006 and finally to Voyageur Internet.
Voyageur Internet offers four main residential wireless Internet service packages. In our review of Voyageur Internet, we will examine these four plans by price and feature, and compare them to Gonevoip’s top three Internet Service providers to see how they stack up.
The first plan is called the A Plan and checks in at $58.88 per month. Included in the A Plan, is a connection speed of up to 8 Mbps up and 1 Mbps up. Next up we detail all the residential internet plans from Voyageur Internet.
- 8 Mbps Down, 1 Mbps Up at $58.88 / month
- 13 Mbps Down, 3 Mbps Up at $88.88 / month
- 21 Mbps Down, 5 Mbps Up at $118.88 / month
- 34 Mbps Down, 7 Mbps Up at $188.88 / month
- 55 Mbps Down, 11 Mbps Up at $288.88 / month
All of the packages come with a one-year mandatory term. Any additional data usage is billed at a rate of $2 per GB used over the monthly allowance. There is also a $275 installation fee for any of the packages chosen. In our review of Voyageur Internet, we are disappointed in their rather drastic price increases from plan-to-plan, which are significant and offer very little in terms of feature upgrades.
From $58.88 at the least inexpensive plan to $288.88 for the most expensive, the speeds increase go from 8 Mbps to 55 MB. total This is a considerable increase in price for modest gains in download and upload speeds. If you live in southern Manitoba, then Voyageur is an option worth considering, but only for the A plan, which at $58.88 per month still is considerably more expensive than Gonevoip’s top three internet service providers – Altima Telecom, Heronet, and CIK Telecom. None of those companies have starter plans, which top $39.95 per month, making them about $20 cheaper than Voyageur’s least expensive plan. Furthermore, the installation fee and the mandatory one-year term may be enough to push Voyager Internet out of contention for some. Though if is the only option you come across in your area, then is worth investigating and researching all the discounts Voyageur may be able to provide.
